ABOUT TROY

01 December 1961

The eldest of 5 siblings Troy grew up on Glen Idol station in Far West NSW until a serous spinal injury at the age of 11 changed his life forever.

Following his injury Troy began competing in wheelchair sports at the age of 11 and through dedication and a strong desire to reach his goals, has established himself as one of the region’s most prolific sporting achievers.

With a keen interest in all things sport, Troy was determined to succeed and represented Australia at 5 Paralympics Games during his sporting career.

Troy attended his first Paralympics in the United Kingdom in 1984 representing Australia in air pistol and achieving 4^Th place.

Determined to engage in as much sport as possible, Troy was also part of the Australian men’s national wheelchair basketball team and represented Australia in 1988 Seoul, 1992 Barcelona, 1996 Atlanta and 2000 Sydney Paralympics games.

Troy won a gold medal as part of the winning 1996 Australian team for which he received a medal of the Order of Australia.

Troy was also the recipient of the Australian Sports medal in 2000

Troy retired from competitive sport in 2003 having played over 250 games for Australia and 600 games for South Australia.

Today, Troy is an Occupational Therapy Department equipment technician servicing South Australia, Northern Territory, Western NSW and North Western Victoria. Troy maintains a strong interest in all things sport, enjoys time with his family and has a keen interest in old and unique cars.
