ABOUT DAVID

31 December 1951

Born and raised in Broken Hill, David is recognised in the FWSHF for his involvement in AFL. Having been involved in the sport for much of his life.

David’s Far West Champion status is attributed to his involvement in state level AFL, prior to the establishment of a national competition. David’s love for football started young, playing junior and senior football for the West Broken Hill Football Club.

David’s ability saw him move onto the South Australian National Football league in 1975. Following his playing career in the SANFL, David went on to play two seasons in the Northern Territory league before returning to Broken Hill to see out his playing career. David then moved into coaching and administration, dedicating many years to his beloved club and the Broken Hill league.

Today, when he’s not at the footy, you’ll find David spending time with family, exercising, radio commentating or playing his harmonica. David’s contribution to the growth of AFL in Broken Hill, with a focus on improving the local facilities, is commendable.
